The British Museum Image Database

The British Museum allows free non-commercial use of their images. This is a huge data base that will take me many trips to explore.
I like this one and may use it as a Spoonflower project. I want a screen in front of the television. This just may fit the bill or as a nice piece over the couch in my craft room.
When you find an image in the database that you want to use, click the button above it that says "Use digital image". Sign up and you will receive a high resolution version via e-mail. I've copied the terms and conditions below.

Use: In non-commercial publications with a print run of no more than 4,000. Please read the terms and conditions.
Cost: Free.
Size/quality: Jpeg, with the longest edge at 2,500 pixels, which will appear at a maximum of 21 cm (A5) when printed at 300 dpi. The image may not have been colour-managed or cleaned.
Delivery: Register with your name, address and email address. We will email the file as an attachment. You may order up to 100 images per month, subject to the terms and conditions.

  1. Hi Meggiecat,
Thanks so much for your continued contributions to the artist's blogging community. I've followed your blog for a number of years (even checking back when you were on your "sabbatical"). You always have something of interest and I love your Frankie Files.
You are one of my blogging inspirations!

I've given you a plug on my blog.

  3. This does look like a great idea for your Spoonflower project. I love museum databases, so many treasures to explore that would otherwise be locked away without ever being seen.
