From the Smithsonian Museum

Pochoir is a refined stencil-based technique employed to create prints or to add color to pre-existing prints. It was most popular from the late 19th century through the 1930's with its center of activity in Paris. I used Simple Edition. This edition supplies straightforward jpeg issues of each page of the book in two sizes: 1000-pixel width ('screenshots', if you have your monitor resolution configured to 1024 by 768), and much larger. A navigation menu beneath the images will allow you to toggle between smaller images and enlargements (to zoom, click on the + sign).

Medieval Tarot

A gift from the World of Playing Cards.
Tarot cards by Nicolas Bodet (1743-1751). An early example of the "Rouen/Brussels" Latin-suited tarot, probably the earliest we know actually made in Brussels (466 Kb JPG).
