Thanks to all who left comments and sent messages of concern regarding my absence. I'm fine and getting better every day. Moving, starting a new life and suffering winter pain even in California has been overwhelming and I had writer's block in a big way.
I feel as if I've been simmering. Dreaming of what my future life will be, fighting my own ageism. Asking myself "What do you mean, you're going to start a whole new career?" That's really being a late bloomer.
I have been collecting some interesting blog fodder on my travels and will start posting some of that.
I hope you will forgive me my very rude and selfish behaviour. I am among the luckiest of women to have friends such as you.
Hugs and much love,
Kathy aka meggiecat

Goodness, you don’t have to apologise to anyone darling, just so glad you are ok. I’m sure there are ‘millions’ like me out here in cyber space,( I’m from Australia) who love and appreciate your blog and even though we don’t know you personally , certainly missed, and were concerned for you.
I too, am late bloomer, 3 years ago going back to university (have just graduated, alas no job!). It was while studying (anything but study) I found your site. You introduced me to so many other sites and so many fantastic inspiring crafts, and I thank you. Though I have to say maybe it is you I should blame for my now addiction to blogger land and to some of my late assignments! Please look after yourself and enjoy, so happy to hear all is well.
Cheers,
Michelle

We do care and just want you to know when you are ready, we will be here. Changing a life is not easy and I look forward to reading about the treasures you have found, either on the interwebs or within yourself.
Rest easy and come back only when you feel it is the right time.
So glad you are well. Just live as you see fit. We all love ya.
of course we do! we just care that you are ok. Be well ((HUG))
Yes, I'm glad to know you're ok and coming back to blogland too.
Mother Jones was about 55 when she started crusading for workers' safety and rights--she did amazing things and lived to be 100! There are lots of people who start late, and I'm counting on being one of them.
Always selfishly glad to see you back. Take your time simmering, what comes out of the pot should be interesting.

As long as you are ok - thats the main thing.

So happy to see you're doing alright. As long as you are taking care of you that's what is important! Looking forward to seeing what you've been up to lately.
Hi Meggiecat. So happy to have you back. I checked on you almost daily. I even emailed your precious Dad. He sent me a gracious email saying he talked to you by phone and you were doing O.K. I worried that all of the recent changes in your life had taken its toll on you. Just come back at your own pace.
Take care.

Yippee! You are alright! So glad you are still out there in blogland and fighting the good fight. As you can see, you are a "far away" friend to lots of us. We missed you and were worried about you.
I'm just glad to see you back!
Mostly a lurker/scanner, you are the first blogger I've ever posted a comment to!
Just think a year from now you'll look back with wonder at all that has happened to you because of the choices you made. Bravo to you!
I'm so glad to see you back, too! I totally understand that self-ageism thing, but don't give in to that; I've personally rebloomed several times. I'm excited to see what you'll do. :)
I'm so glad you're back and I hope feeling better in every way! You've been in my prayers!
Hurrah!! You're back. But more importantly you are ok. You have nothing to apologise for. Hope you are feeling better and stronger.
I'm so happy that you're back. I was worried about you!
I love this quote by the (female) English novelist, George Eliot: "It's never too late to be who you might have been."
Hi Meggiecat: So glad to see you are back. I think most women in "our" age bracket can relate to the changes and stages of life. I'm just glad you are doing okay and can't wait to see what treasures you have to share. You are still my favorite blog. Take care of yourself.
What a wonderful surprise as I was reading blogs for the first time in a week to find that you've returned and are back to posting. I breathed a huge sigh of relief. Funny to have that unsettling feeling that the world is out of kilter for someone you've never actually met, just looked forward to reading and sharing in your discoveries. So glad you're back!
yeah!!
so happy to "see" you :)
